This has been quite a week! We had our delivery room tour last weekend and reality is setting in about how close the arrival of Miss Lillian is! She could be here in 3 to 5 more weeks! This past week I've also spent more time at the hospital than I have before between various doctor appointments and trips to Labor and Delivery. My blood pressure has been high on and off for a while now and I'm continuing to be screened for pre-eclampsia; however, the test always comes back negative. I'm having a massive amount of swelling but my doctor isn't concerned about the swelling or blood pressure since I'm not testing positive for pre-e and my blood pressure isn't staying consistently high. The goal is to keep Lillian in there as long as we can, we would only induce if I test positive for pre-e or if my blood pressure does not continue to fluctuate like it has.
According to babycenter.com, this week:
How your baby's growing:
Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
